Our very first event of the 2015 Crazy 8s tour was held last Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., in the spectacular Eugene Pubic Library. In spite of a 90-degree day and many anticipating a major Oregon Ducks game on TV at 5:00 p.m., “125 very happy people” (as host librarian Nancy J. Horner said) were in attendance to hear eight of our incredible authors discuss their writing life in 8-minute segments. It was a joy to watch.
Our test drive of a new electronic sand-timer (set at 8-minutes, of course) went off without a flaw. The authors went along with the timing gimmick like the pros they are. The audience was entranced by the authors’ commentaries, which ran the gamut of creative expression, incorporating humor, life lessons, and pathos, all wrapped up in why they write. Grand, just grand.
Appearing were: Molly Gloss, Melissa Hart, Lindsay Hill, Justin Hocking, Karen Karbo, Lauren Kessler, Phillip Margolin, and Gina Ochsner.
Next up #2 – Cottage Grove: The Crazy 8s tour will next appear this coming Friday, September 18, at the Cottage Grove Library/Community Center, 700 E. Gibbs Avenue, 6:00 p.m., with another intriguing mix of writers.
Authors to appear: Bill Cameron, Ruth Tenzer Feldman, Lisa Ohlen Harris, Lindsay Hill, Karen Karbo, Gina Ochsner, Alexis Smith, Ellen Waterston
