Cai Emmons

Oregon Book Award

Cai Emmons is the author of the novels His Mother’s Son and The StylistHis Mother’s Son was translated into French and German, was a Booksense and Literary Guild selection, and it won the Ken Kesey Award for Fiction. Emmons’ short work has appeared in TriQuarterly, Arts and Letters, Narrative Magazine, The Santa Monica Review, The New York Post, and Portland Monthly, among others, and she has a selection in Now Write: Writing Exercises from Today’s Best Writers and Teachers. Emmons holds degrees from Yale University, New York University, and the University of Oregon. Before turning to fiction she wrote for theater, film, and television, and since 2002 she has been teaching creative writing and screenwriting at the University of Oregon. Her most recently completed novel is called Weather Woman.
